We design and guide adventure journeys across Nepal and other Asian destinations, sharing our passion for mountains, culture, and exploration with travelers worldwide.
The Upper Mustang trek isn’t just a trek, it’s a journey into one of the most preserved cultural regions in the Himalayas. Once closed to outsiders, Upper Mustang is often called the “Last Forbidden Kingdom,” where Tibetan culture, ancient caves, and dramatic desert landscapes remain almost untouched.
Our Upper Mustang trek package takes you through the Kali Gandaki Valley, past colorful cliffs, walled villages, and centuries-old monasteries. At the heart of the trek is Lo Manthang, the ancient capital, where you’ll discover a living museum of Himalayan history.
“This was one of the most interesting experience I’ve ever had. Truly grateful to White Himalaya Treks. They had been attentive and take care of us for the whole journey. The itineraries is well organised. This tour was amazing. We enjoyed the adventure and the screneries. Highly recommended.

The Upper Mustang trek is considered moderate. Daily walks range from 5-7 hours on dry, windy trails at altitudes up to 3,800 meters. It doesn’t reach extreme heights like Everest or Manaslu, making it accessible to trekkers with good fitness.
The best time to trek Upper Mustang is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The region is in a rain shadow, so it’s also one of the few treks in Nepal you can do during the summer monsoon.
No prior trekking experience is required, but a good fitness level will make the journey more enjoyable. The trails are dry and sometimes windy, but not technically difficult.
